Rotogrip torque activated core chuck is engineered to use the torque produced by the braking force and the opposite web tension (coupled with a brake or motor) to expand the sector elements, center the reel core, and automatically lock it with high reliability. These systems deliver outstanding performance even in dusty environments and with heavy rolls.
The cam at the center of the chuck rotates, pushing the expansion elements or sectors toward the core of the reel, ensuring optimal and consistent grip to keep the core centered and stabilize the process.
Rotogrip torque activated core chuck is available in single-diameter or double-diameter versions, depending on the specific processing needs. Additionally, flange versions are available for unwinders already equipped with core ejection system system, as well as flange and a calibrated spring versions for automatic reel expulsion, or modular versions for quick cage changes, allowing different core diameters to be used without needing to replace the cam.
The wide-surface contact jaws provide maximum grip, preventing damage to the reel cores, which can then be reused without compromising work quality. The segments are available in three finishes: smooth, grooved or carbide, to meet various processing and material needs.
Rotogrip chucks are available in diameters ranging from 3″ to 12″ and can handle loads up to 110.000 N and torques up to 16.000 Nm. To fit any new or existing unwinder, the flange mounting, centering, and closing nose length can be customized, offering a versatile solution that adapts to any operational requirement.
Thanks to their robustness, flexibility, and ease of installation, Rotogrip torque activated core chuck is ideal for industries using large and heavy reels, such as in paper and corrugated board production, where precise and secure handling is essential.
