The Pyramid optical sensor for web guiding, is designed to reliably and accurately detect printed lines, material edges or color patterns, whether continuous or intermittent, even in the presence of very low contrasts. Used in a web guiding system, this sensor ensures precise material positioning, optimizing web alignment and contributing to a production process with minimal waste.
Pyramid is a highly compact optical sensor equipped with three buttons for calibration and advanced function management. It features an intuitive four-digit display and a LED-bar indicator to show sensor parameters and the positioning of the line/edge. Additional LED indicators provide information on the sensor’s operational status, while a pointing LED facilitates the visualization of the reading area.
The Pyramid sensor can automatically select the best contrast illumination color, choosing from blue, red, green, white, or UV (for supported models) to achieve the highest contrast between the background and the line, edge, or pattern being detected.
With a viewing area of approximately 20 mm for edge reading and about 12 mm for pattern reading, the sensor offers a reading speed of up to 1.000 times per second, ensuring fast and precise processing.
In a complete web guiding system, the Pyramid optical sensor operates alongside MWG22, MWG10.1, SmartMotion technology and the WLigo display, and mechanical frames such as WG offset pivoting frames, WR steering rollers, and AT linear actuators to maintain web alignment during production.
Pyramid is frequently used on slitter rewinders, in combination with linear actuators, to ensure precise material control during cutting and winding processes.
