Re – history
For a company, years of life are very important, as seasons for the wine. It is said that years bring wisdom. Years brought us experience and ability to deal with many different requests to create an almost boundless products catalogue.
50 years of successes
Ours is the typical success story that began in 1974 in a small garage in Milan that, step by step, has developed into a multinational recognized worldwide. It has been 50 years marked by significant technological and commercial accomplishments that have led Re S.p.A. to become an Italian and then global leader.
One would never have thought that starting from a basement one would arrive at celebrating 50 years of a multinational company. A history made of people, passion and courage that forms the solid foundation on which we base our expectations of future achievements.
The American market has also always been of great interest to Re. For years there have been important collaborations with some local partners, but in 2018 an important change will lead to the foundation of the fourth subsidiary, Re USA in Boston.
In 2007, realizing the great potential of the Indian market as well, the first trips to India began, culminating in the establishment of a joint venture with the Indian company Shilp. A few years later, in 2011, ReShilp came to be 100% owned by Re, with the establishment of Re
The early 2000s also marked a milestone for Re’s growth in the Asian market. In 2001, the first trips to China and the first business agreements with Chinese partners began. The enormous growth of the Chinese market led, in 2008, to the founding of the second subsidiary: Re China.
The first step in the internationalization process began in 2006 with the opening of the first foreign subsidiary, Re Latina, in São Paulo, Brazil.
The new millennium marks an important mindset change in the history of Re. On the one hand, the development of electronic products becomes increasingly important, on the other hand, work is done to make Re a multinational company.
Shafts and supports were first added to the product range, and later an important technological milestone was reached: in 1995 the first web guiding systems were developed and sold. From now on, electronics will be a driving area for business growth.
1991 was the year of the Combiflex brake, the air-cooled single-disc brake that set the benchmark for the converting industry right from the start, and still does today. It will be a turning point for our company for an important commercial growth.
At the beginning of the 1990s, Re moved to Bussero in a warehouse that will be our home to this day. The new decade was characterized by significant commercial development in Italy and abroad thanks to the creation of an increasingly structured sales network in numerous countries around the world.
These are the years of an important corporate structuring, laying the foundations for a solid future and growth that starts with the move to a new location of about 300 sqm in Milan. These are also the years of the advent of electronics and the first attempts to expand internationally
In the late 1970s, the first air-cooled Turboflex brakes 115 TPM, the predecessor of our Combiflex of today, were born, and the first load cells began to be investigated. The company is small, but investors have high expectations of its future development.
In July 1974, in a small basement of about 80 sqm, in Via Tolmezzo in Milan, Re was founded: it was a small mechanical workshop with five people, which in the early years produced water-cooled brakes and rotary unions for the packaging, printing and steel industry in Italy.
